Good Hope sits in farm country on the county's rural east side. In town, the Walton County Water Department supplies water, but a farm or homestead out on its own well carries a stricter rule: the county Board of Health doubles the usable-soil minimum from 25,500 to 51,000 square feet and caps sewage flow at 600 gallons per acre per day.↗↗
Space itself is rarely the constraint. Town ordinance forbids new homes on less than two acres, far more than either county minimum. What limits a repair is placement: keeping trench downhill and away from the wellhead, off creek buffers along Jacks or Indian Creek, and out of pasture where livestock and tractors compact the ground.↗↗
