How we repair or replace an Atlanta service line
First we confirm the leak is on your side: with every fixture off, a moving meter means water is leaving between the meter and the house. Then we locate the line and have utilities marked before digging.
A single split or failed fitting gets a section repair. A galvanized or polybutylene line gets replaced end to end, from the meter connection to the house, often with a new main shutoff where it enters the building. Under a mature tree or a long driveway, boring a new line can avoid trenching through roots and concrete.
Where individual meters serve a group of single-family homes, city code has each owner acknowledge that the line from meter to unit is theirs and requires an owner-installed cutoff valve on the discharge side of the meter box.↗
For a business, the same rules apply with larger meters and fire service connections, and blueprints for commercial buildings must show the proposed meter size and location.↗
