Does the 200-foot rule mean I must connect right away?
Georgia requires connection when sewer is within 200 feet or in an abutting right-of-way. In practice the push usually comes when a septic system fails, because Rockdale then gives 30 days after written notice to connect.

Can two houses share one new sewer lateral?
No. Rockdale's standards say each individual service lateral must serve only one dwelling, so a guest house or second home on the lot needs its own arrangement.

I read that Newton County customers own the line all the way to the main. Is that true in Conyers?
That rule belongs to NCWSA, which moved the owner's upkeep to the tap in 2021. Rockdale draws the line at the street right-of-way instead, so the county keeps the service line between the main and that point.
