The Lake Oconee side of Morgan County is dotted with small subdivisions that run their own drinking water systems. EPA's records list several of them on groundwater, with anywhere from a couple dozen to about a hundred connections each, and none has a matching sewer utility.↗
That combination, a shared well nearby and a septic system on every lot, is why repairs there get checked closely. The state keeps a drain field 100 feet from wells and 50 feet from the lake's normal water level.↗
Closer to town, farm homes along the county roads have their own well and tank. The county plan is plain about it: most of unincorporated Morgan has neither public water nor sewer.↗
