Three rules that shape a Rex sewer layout
First, one building, one sewer. The ordinance calls for a separate, independent building sewer for every building, and for each unit of a multi-unit residence, unless CCWA approves otherwise. A detached garage apartment or a second house on the lot generally gets its own line.↗
Second, clean water stays out. No one may tie roof downspouts, foundation drains, areaway drains or other groundwater and surface runoff into a building sewer without CCWA's approval. On sloped Rex lots it's tempting to route a French drain into the nearest pipe; this rule says don't.↗
Third, the cost and the pipe are yours for good. The owner pays every expense of installing and connecting the building sewer and indemnifies CCWA against damage from the work, and the finished line becomes the landowner's property and responsibility.↗
