Suwanee Creek drains 47 square miles by the time it passes the federal gauge in town. Gwinnett also runs a sewer pump station named for the creek, one of the roughly 200 pump stations that keep county wastewater moving toward treatment.↗↗
That station is getting a rebuild. Gwinnett has put the Suwanee Creek Diversion Pump Station out to bid, with new pumps, a rehabilitated diversion structure and new flow monitoring in the gravity sewer below it.↗

What happens when you call Gwinnett first
For a backup, the county asks you to cut water use and call its 24-hour line. An investigator checks the main and your lateral up to the right-of-way, day or night, and clears anything found on the county side.↗
If the main is clear, the investigator looks for the blockage through the right-of-way cleanout. When a lateral has no cleanout there, DWR may install one with your permission, usually within two to five business days, reseeding only grass.↗
