Switching from a tank to the city sewer

A conversion is done in a set order. The new lateral is laid from the house to the tap and inspected, the plumbing is switched over, and only then is the old tank pumped out and filled or removed so it cannot collapse under a mower or a car later. On a small in-town lot, the same trench sometimes serves both jobs, which keeps the yard work to one pass.
