It depends on the county under your lot. Loganville's development regulations send septic approvals to the Walton or the Gwinnett County health department. On the Walton side that is Walton County Environmental Health in Monroe; on the Gwinnett side it is GNR Public Health's Gwinnett office in Lawrenceville. Your tax bill or plat tells you which.

Not if the city says sewer is available. Loganville's regulations state that no septic tanks are allowed where public sewer is available, that all structures must connect, and that the utility department makes the call. Ask for that determination before you design a new system or buy a lot.

The city's fee schedule effective July 1, 2026 lists a $4,500 residential sewer connection fee. Commercial projects pay $500 for a sewer capacity letter. The trenching and pipe from your house to the city line, and closing out an old tank, are separate from that fee.
